Pest Control in Loves Park

Loves Park at a glance

Loves Park is a city north of Rockford with 23,397 people at the 2020 census. Most of it is in Winnebago County, with a small sliver in Boone County, and it covers nearly 17 square miles.

What that means for pests

Loves Park borders the Rock River and has plenty of parks and green space, which brings mosquitoes and ticks close to homes in summer. Neighborhoods built after the Second World War have basements and attached garages where mice settle in once the weather turns cold. See mice and rats. Homes near the river and the forest preserves see the most mosquitoes, so yard clean-up in spring makes a real difference.

From picnic grounds to city

Rockford industrialist Malcolm Love bought 236 acres here in 1901 and set up a gathering place that became known as Love's Park. The city was incorporated in 1947, and in 2001 Danfoss moved its plant from Rockford to Loves Park, becoming one of the largest employers.

Homes and businesses

Loves Park mixes residential streets with industrial and commercial areas along its main roads. Warehouses, loading docks and restaurants attract rodents and cockroaches that can move into nearby homes, so neighborhoods close to commercial strips often need extra attention. Keep garbage sealed, trim vegetation back from the foundation and seal gaps around utility lines. For businesses that need regular visits, see general pest control.
